Bill Bass

Bill Bass is the Co-President and Chief Marketing Officer for Orchard Brands, a $1 billion collection of catalog companies targeting customers over the age of 50 and including brands such as Norm Thompson, Appleseeds and Wintersilks. Prior to joining Orchard Brands in early 2012, Bill was president of Charming Shoppes’ direct division where he managed the ecommerce businesses of the Lane Bryant, Fashion Bug and Catherines clothing brands plus the Figis catalog business. Bill is also the chairman and co-founder of Black Wolf Group, an eclectic and diversified company providing local moving and healthcare services, data analytics, and socially conscious clothing. Prior to co-founding Black Wolf in 2005, Bill ran Sears’ direct-to-customer business and Lands’ End’s ecommerce business. Before the sale of Lands’ End to Sears in 2002, he was also responsible for Lands’ End’s international business unit with catalog operations in Japan, Germany and the United Kingdom.
Prior to joining Lands' End in 1999, Bill served as the group research director for media and ecommerce at Forrester Research. Before that, he co-founded and co-managed the Web site, the online subsidiary of the Boston Globe newspaper. Bill’s business career also includes work as a strategic initiatives manager with the Knight Ridder newspaper company and a stint at the US Department of Education. Bill grew up in Tennessee and is a former Army paratrooper and helicopter gunship instructor pilot. He received his B.A. from Princeton University and an M.B.A. and M.A. from Stanford University. He is currently enrolled as a student in Northwestern University’s Master of Science in Predictive Analytics program.
